Restoring Lizzie

Lizzie is a Lister CS 5/1 dating from 1943 making her 64 years old. For many of those years, she served in a milking parlour near Whitchurch in Shropshire but has seen little use for the last six at least. She was bought as a working engine but she looked like some TLC would be welcome so it was off with her head!

Lizzie will deliver 6hp at 650 RPM and once restored, it is planned to hook her up to a 5kW ST generator to power my biodiesel rig and act as a back-up for the house. Longer term, my aim is to harvest the waste heat from the water cooling circuit and exhaust, making Lizzie the heart of a CHP system. She will run initially on the biodiesel she helped to make but I will also look at using WVO - an ample supply of which just happens to be at hand.....

I am indebted to Pete at ListerClones for his help and advice and to my long suffering wife for letting me play with my toys....

After the top end overhaul, the engine is running well on biodiesel. Here's a short video....
