Fort Augustus
After crossing Loch Ness, we didn't have long to wait before the next locking up the Fort Augustus flight. Whilst the bridge presented no obstacle to our boat, it had to be swung for the yachts that would accompany us up the flight.

This was clearly the Gongoozlers Anonymous annual outing as the place was swarming with 'em. After having numerous cameras and camcorders pointed our way, I thought is was time we got our own back!

The boats are pulled from chamber to chamber. Here the lower gates are closing - Loch Ness can be seen in the distance. Our boat is near-left, Angie standing at the pointy end, keeping a tight rein on things.....

Ascending Fort Augustus Locks

Fort Augustus is a useful stop for provisions.......and the inevitable gift shops. Nessie mouse mat, Nessie fridge magnet, Nessie mugs, Nessie tea towels, Nessie chocolate anyone?....
....Oh dear I seem to becoming cynical in my dotage.:-) ........... Feeling much better following our extensive retail therapy, we left Fort Augustus to Nessie and the Gongoozlers. This is the view from the top of the Fort Augustus flight:-

We recalled from our previous visit to the Great Glen that Kytra Lock was delightfully situated so we set off to find an overnight berth there.......
