Little Mo gets a tow

Little Mo has been rather static of late, having had her outboard engine 'appropriated'. However, the new engine has arrived and the boat is booked in for manufacturing and fitting a narrowboat style tiller. The only problem was moving 'Little Mo' from Redhill, on the River Soar, to Sawley Marina.

TNC to the rescue
N Bear Nest had moored on the Cranfleet cut overnight and we had arranged to meet 'at the boat' at 08:30 the following morning. I arrive at Redhill Marina in plenty of time - then panic! ... did Neil think I meant that I'd meet him at his boat. Neil didn't have his mobile switched on ... mega panic ... Then, through the mist, appeared the TNC.....

The initial attempt to maneuver 58ft Earnest onto the vacant 23ft pontoon next to Little Mo proved to be difficult, even with the aid of that bow thrusty thingy. However, the wind was light and the current gentle, so with a little help from Linda, Earnest sat quietly mid-river whilst the boats were lashed together.....

(Above) Neil and Martin strike a pose while Linda holds the two boats steady in the river with her bare hands!

(Above) Neil tries to remember where he left his beer. Linda, (in balaclava) looking like the latest recruit to the Provisional Wing of the TNC, wonders whether it really is a good idea to unravel that arran sweater at a time like this. Oh, it's the bow line :-) .... Martin maintains a watching brief.

Many thanks to Neil, Linda, Martin and Earnest for their help in moving 'Little Mo'.
