The Grantham Canal Partnership
The GCP, first established in 1997, has been re-vitalised:
- To maintain and improve the Canal to the benefit of all local communities
- To sustain the environmental and conservation features of the major central area of the Canal
- To promote proper development at the Grantham and Nottingham ends to develop, with the greatest care, a level of income from the Canal necessary to sustain it on a self-sufficient basis
- To encourage the type and quality of visitor and activity which will make the Canal, in representational terms, exemplary of its type - to include a wide section of user groups
- To restore the Canal to full navigation
New Organisation Structure
A new structure, was agreed at the GCP meeting of 3rd February 2004, consisting of:
- an Executive
- 6 special interest sub-groups representing:
- Commerce
- Community Relations
- Environment
- Heritage
- Leisure & Tourism
- Restoration
